Robert W. Marriott, Jr.

Since March of 2001, Robert W. Marriott Jr. has been Associate Dean for Planning, Management and Resources in the UNC School of Medicine. In that role he is responsible for space management and construction programs at the UNC School of Medicine in Chapel Hill.

Prior to his arrival at UNC, Marriott spent 20 years in a variety of executive urban planning positions in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. area; including Deputy Director of Planning for Baltimore County and Director of Planning for Montgomery County, Maryland. He is a member of Lambda Alpha and was elected to three terms as president of the Maryland Chapter of the American Planning Association.

Marriott has two bachelor’s degrees, one in Building Science and one in Urban Design, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. He also has a master’s degree in Rural and Regional. Resource Planning from King’s College, University of Aberdeen, in Aberdeen, Scotland.
