In that role, he oversees financial services for UNC Health Care and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Lewis works closely with the financial officers of UNC Hospitals, Rex Healthcare, UNC Physicians & Associates, and the UNC School of Medicine.
Immediately prior, John was the chief financial officer for UNC Hospitals from October 2005 to March 2008. Before coming to UNC John worked at Rex Healthcare, a UNC-owned hospital and healthcare system in Raleigh, North Carolina. John was at Rex for nine years, the last two as chief financial officer. Additionally, John taught English in rural Japan and was a consultant for the strategy consulting firms SJS, Inc. and The Boston Consulting Group. John earned an undergraduate degree in English Literature from Brown University and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. John and his wife, Carol, live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with their three children ages four, eight, and ten.
