NC TraCS Team Science Series II is focused on tools for research that allow research teams to facilitate communication before, during, and following the submission of research proposals; facilitate data sharing, storage, and archiving; and to locate collaborators. Though the support of research team activities by these presentations is indicated, these sessions are all geared toward individual investigators who might utilize these tools in a team environment. The sessions are useful for faculty, trainees, staff, and students who are interested in conducting research. The first session will be on the Virtual Institute for Social Research (VISR) Plan.

This one hour course will provide an overview of the capture planning process with the goal of explaining what capture is and why effective capture is critical to increasing your funding opportunity win rate. The course will also describe where capture fits into the business development (BD) and grant application lifecycle, the phases of capture, and recommended timing. Participants will leave with a basic understanding of capture planning best practices that they can use when preparing for upcoming opportunities.
