Title: "Causal Inference in Randomized Trials and Observational Studies"
The target audience for the seminar series includes junior clinical and translational scientists who currently serve as or plan to serve as Principal Investigators leading interdisciplinary research teams that include biostatisticians. For example, this includes junior faculty in the Schools of Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Pharmacy and Dentistry.
Emphasis is placed on what clinical and translational researchers collaborating with biostatisticians most need to understand about a statistical method or concept in order to
- recognize whether a methodology is potentially relevant to their research aim and choice of study design, and
- appropriately interpret results of analyses using the methodology.
Topics will build on material covered in Bios 541 and Bios 542. A potential list of topics has been identified from issues commonly arising in applied research collaborations between clinical and translational researchers and biostatistics faculty.
We hope to offer sessions approximately monthly during the fall and spring semesters of the 2011-2012 academic year.
