Carolina KickStart, part of the North Carolina Translational Science Institute (NC TraCS), has been active in developing and launching startup companies based on UNC‐CH intellectual property. The Innovation Fellowship Program is intended to tap student potential in forming University startups and retain highly trained talent to North Carolina.
This Request for Applications (RFA) is targeting recently graduated PhD’s who are interested in working full‐time within a newly formed startup company, in need of technical and scientific expertise to further their commercialization efforts. Technology Fellows may be involved in any the following activities:
* prototype development,
* proof‐of‐concept experiments,
* writing SBIR/STTR grants,
* company incorporation,
* technology licensing,
* developing the business plan, or
* conducting market research.
In addition, Carolina KickStart will provide mentorship and support services (i.e. access to SBIR consultant, market research databases, etc) to the Fellow as part of these commercialization activities.
