The UNC Center for Functional GI and Motility Disorders is happy to announce Patient Day 2014! Patient Day is an educational symposium dedicated to helping patients find information on a variety of different functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) by bringing experts in the field together for one event.  This year, Patient Day will be held in Washington DC, but it will also be available via a live streaming video webinar.

The experts provide up-to-date information on treatments, disorder etiology, new developments in the field, and additional health care resources for patients. Top U.S. experts on functional GI disorders will give presentations designed to update patients on the current state of knowledge about treatments for those disorders. Patients can participate in this symposium in person or online via live real-time video streaming.

We will have lively and informative presentations on several topics that will be live streamed over the internet as well as attended in person. Online audiences will have the opportunity to submit questions and have them answered in real time. A reception will be held after the lectures on June 22 and patients can visit with speakers over light refreshments. On June 23, there will be experiential workshops where patients choose to participate in 2 of 6 different 2-hour courses focusing how to self-manage their functional gastrointestinal disorder. The Experiential workshops will only be available to in person participants due to HIPAA laws on patient privacy and protection.
