DESCRIPTION:Abstract -- During last decade tremendous progress has bee
 n made in the development of medical imaging\, image guided interventi
 ons\, nanotechnology\, molecular imaging probes and instrumentation. T
 hese new technologies have provided significant opportunities to advan
 ce medical practice and patient care. In this talk I will first presen
 t an overview of current practice of image guided interventions\, in p
 articularly image guided radiation therapy and recent technical develo
 pments in on-treatment volumetric image guidance. The need for molecul
 ar imaging and molecular image guidance will be highlighted. I will th
 en talk about our recent research on high resolution and high sensitiv
 ity X-ray and radionuclide molecular imaging techniques\, including X-
 ray luminescence computed tomography\, X-ray fluorescence computed tom
 ography\, Cerenkov imaging and its potential application in image guid
 ed surgery.
