The Academy of Educators is pleased to bring to you Dr. Rhee Fincher.
Ruth-Marie E. Fincher, MD, MACP is Professor of Medicine and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Health Sciences University. She joined the MCG faculty in 1984 and has been the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs since 1994. She is the founding co-director of the GHSU Educational Innovation Institute.
Dr. Fincher has been widely recognized for contributions to the field of medical education, including receipt of University System of Georgia Regents’ Hall of Fame Faculty Award for Education (inaugural recipient, 2004), AAMC/GEA Merrel D. Flair Award for Medical Education (2006), American College of Physician’s Jane Desforges Distinguished Teacher Award (2011), and NBME Edithe Levit Distinguished Service Award (2011).
She has had many educational leadership roles, including president of the Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine, co-chair of the AAMC’s Research in Medical Education Committee and chair of its Group on Educational Affairs (GEA), serving on the National Board of Medical Examiners Executive Board, and serving on the AAMC Board of Directors.
