The online research channel covers the latest discoveries in science, health, the environment and more, with stories understandable to general audiences.
Futurity was founded as a way to connect directly with audiences who may be interested in important research breakthroughs, and in response to shrinking media coverage of research-related stories in recent years as many news organizations have cut back on staff dedicated to reporting topics in such fields.
The site has presences on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, is available in a mobile-friendly version, and visitors can comment on stories and sign up for a daily e-mail update. Stories also include links to published reports and supplemental materials that allow readers to explore topics in more detail.
UNC, along with all the project’s partner universities, is a member of the Association of American Universities, a nonprofit organization of leading public and private research universities.
