UNC Lineberger Beach Ball Sells Out New Venue

Thursday, April 15, 2010 — “White Party” draws 600 guests to Chapel Hill Country Club

CHAPEL HILL, NC – Number seven is lucky for UNC Lineberger’s 7th Annual Beach Ball, which has sold out its new venue at the Chapel Hill Country Club with 600 tickets spoken for.

This year’s Hamptons and South Beach-inspired White Party will be held this Saturday, April 17th from 8 p.m. – midnight.

Honorary Chairs Coach Roy and Wanda Williams will join attendees on the “white carpet” as the paparazzi photograph event guests dressed in their brightest whites and most creative beach attire for an evening of fun and fundraising, supporting UNC Lineberger’s cancer research, treatment and prevention programs.

“Thanks to the dedication and creativity of our outstanding volunteer team, we are looking forward to a fantastic event this year with some fun and exciting twists for our guests,” said UNC Lineberger’s Mary Seagroves.

“Our sponsors have turned out to support cancer research, treatment and prevention in our community and across the state, and we are grateful for their ongoing commitment.” Featuring live music by the Troupers, the event also boasts a silent auction for packages aimed at relaxation, recreation, road trips and more. Guests will bid on vacation packages at the Green Turtle Club Resort and Marina in the Bahamas, the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club, the Grove Park Inn and Chapel Hill’s own Siena Hotel and Il Palio restaurant. If adventure is more their style, recreation packages are available that feature rafting trips or passes to central Virginia’s Wintergreen Resort or the use of a BMW for a weekend getaway. Family friendly options include Rams Club seating and tickets for the UNC vs. ECU football game this fall, a family membership to the North Carolina Zoo and passes to the Museum of Life and Science in Durham and Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh.

UNC Lineberger is grateful to the following event sponsors for making this fabulous evening possible. $10,000-plus sponsors: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Coach Butch and Tammy Davis, the Chapel Hill Herald, Eurosport, and Skanska.
