Professor, Family Medicine

Summary Statement:

I love being a Family Physician and caring for people from the cradle to the grave.I spend time doing inpatient medicine, outpatient medicine and also do some migrant health and work in the student run free clinic (SHAC). In addition I love to advise medical students. I took on this role after my daughter graduated from UNC medical school as she gave me added insight into the life of a medical student. I feel my job is so varied I am never bored!
In my free time I love to travel with my family and am an avid hiker. Recently I have had amazing hiking holidays in Patagonia, The Dolomites and Montenegro. Closer to home I love to hike with my rescue black lab, called Abraham Lincoln, in the mountains in Western Carolina. Black Balsam Knob is my favorite hike and then finish with a beer by the river in Waynesille at Frog Level Brewing company.
