Dr. Cene’s background in her own words
My desire to become a General Internal Medicine physician and health services researcher was shaped by my personal experiences with family members affected by complex chronic illnesses. I love providing comprehensive general health care to individuals and their family members and having meaningful relationships with them over time. My research, which seeks to reduce disparities in health and health care by addressing social determinants of health, is directly informed by my personal and clinical experiences. I am passionate about patient and family engagement in health care and a focus of my research is on developing pragmatic interventions to support family members caring of adults with chronic illnesses, particularly those at risk for or diagnosed with cardiovascular disease.
