A Fellowship opportunity in Interprofessional Education at UNC.
Fellowship: Each year three IPE fellows are selected through a competitive process: one physician, one nurse and one dentist. The Fellowship team learns about, with and from each other as they immerse themselves in a practice-based geriatrics project. The Fellowship creates a unique opportunity to build team care across the continuum of services and truly deliver person-centered, high quality geriatrics in a real world setting.
Funded through our Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program, the IP Fellowship has trained two cohorts since 2016 and a third class will begin in 2021. Due to COVID-19 the 2020-2021 fellowship program is suspended but projected to resume for the 2021-2022 fellowship year.
In 2017-2018 IPE Fellows worked with the Program for All Inclusive Care of the Elderly (PACE) at the Piedmont Health Services, Inc., in Pittsboro, NC. The team developed a protocol for addressing unexplained weight loss among PACE patients and integrated that advanced care into the practice.
20180-2019 Fellows researched “The Ideal Geriatrics Outpatient Visit” in their fellowship year and wrote a soon-to-published paper describing their findings.
Fellowship opportunities begin in July and run for one or two years. A stipend for support is available. For more information on the fellowship email firstname.lastname@example.org
