Joy Diamond

Joy Diamond is a speech language pathologist who is working as a research assistant at the Center for Literacy and Disability Studies while pursuing her PhD at UNC.  Joy received her master’s degree from Vanderbilt University and has been working with beginning and struggling readers for over 15 years.  After working as a classroom teacher for students with learning disabilities, Joy started a successful private practice in Atlanta, Georgia where she developed and facilitated numerous language and literacy professional development classes for preschool and elementary teachers and managed a case load of private students who were struggling with reading.  Prior to beginning her work at the Center for Literacy and Disability Studies, Joy worked as a literacy coach on the Targeted Reading Intervention project at UNC.
