Lisa Cremeans, an assistant professor in the Division of Clinical Laboratory Science, joined Joan Polancic of Denver Health Medical Center and John Gerlach of Michigan State University, in delivering the opening keynote address at the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) Clinical Laboratory Educators Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, in February. Cremeans discussed workforce issues and their impact on clinical laboratories, patient care, and education programs in the United States. She worked with several others across the country in 2018 on an ASCLS task force that was asked to develop a position paper on the state of the workforce. The position paper is titled “Addressing the Clinical Laboratory Workforce Shortage.”
