Management of Clinical Laboratory Testing for Research Studies

Target audience: UNC-Chapel Hill Researchers in the Division of Health Affairs (Schools of Medicine, Public Health, Pharmacy, Dentistry & Nursing)

Overview:
We can provide the expertise needed for the clinical laboratory testing component of medical research studies. We will work collaboratively with the research team to ensure the quality and most effective use of diagnostic and confirmatory clinical assays of this important aspect of many projects.

We offer all services related to clinical laboratory testing* for both research proposals and funded projects, including, but not limited to:
• Consulting on clinical laboratory test section consistent with project goals.
• Developing estimates of testing costs for proposals.
• Managing all aspects of the laboratory analysis portion of the project (see detailed examples of position descriptions attached).
• Participating in data interpretation of laboratory test results with research team.

Drs. Vicky LeGrys and Rebecca Laudicina are full-time tenured faculty in the Division of Clinical Laboratory Science, Department of Allied Health Sciences, School of Medicine. Each has extensive experience in the clinical laboratory (chemistry, hematology, hemostasis, and microbiology), including test selection and performance, correlation and interpretation of assays, personnel supervision, laboratory management, and research.
