Areas of Study

The program combines academic preparation with direct field experience in many different public and private rehabilitation settings, thus providing students with a strong applied base in service delivery that is grounded in theory and current research.  We invite you to view our Program Curriculum (pdf).

Specialty Track Requirements

By the end of Fall semester Year 1, students will identify their specialty track. Students select either the Mental Health Counseling– Developmental Disabilities (DD) track or the Mental Health Counseling– Psychiatric Disabilities (PD) track. Track requirements include:

  • CRMH 814:  Introduction to CRMH with people with Developmental Disability and Psychiatric Disability
  • CRMH 816:  Evidence Based Counseling Practices with people with Developmental Disabilities or CRMH 818: Evidence Based Counseling Practices with people with Psychiatric Disabilities
  • CRMH 817: Substance Abuse and Addiction and/or CRMH 718 Substance Abuse and Co-occuring disorders
  • Research paper/project/thesis related to the population
  • CRMH 810:  Internship with the population (See Section VI of the Handbook)
