IPE Journal Club
February 28 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The journal clubs are part of our IPE learning opportunities for students this year. Our theme is learning more about how our different disciplines work with people who are struggling with opiod addiction.
In December, Dr. Paul Chelminski, the Director of the PA program in our department, was our lunch and learn speaker. He introduced us to the opiod epidemic by taking a historical look at its development and offering information for current treatment.
To continue our learning about working with this population, we will be hosting two IPE Journal Club meetings. The first meeting is later this month and will be offered at two different times, one at lunch and the second late one afternoon, in hopes of accommodating different schedules. This first journal club will focus on two articles that our IPE Student Group selected along with the assistance of Dr. Chelminski. These articles discuss the early days of recognizing the problem with treating chronic pain and dependency.
