The UNC-Chapel Hill Physician Assistant program, which launches in January 2016, has admitted its inaugural class of students.

UNC-Chapel Hill’s Department of Allied Health Sciences Physician Assistant faculty extended admission to the inaugural class of students in November 2015. Continue reading to learn more about this inaugural class.

  • More than 800 people completed an application to the program
  • 19 out of 20 students accepted an offer of admission to the program
  • The average student age is 33
  • 45 percent of the inaugural class are veterans (national average is six percent)
  • 35 percent of the inaugural class are minorities (national average is 15 percent)
  • Students averaged 13,000 clinical hours (national average is 4,055)

Students will attend an orientation the week of January 4, and classes begin the following week. Several admitted students attended Veterans Day programs on the UNC-CH campus; media coverage of these events is below.
