Faculty and doctoral students in occupational science and occupational therapy are engaged in the community in ways that span medical, educational, and human service models. Our community work in mental health involves engagement with the Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health. Aging initiatives include work with the Ackland Art MuseumOrange County Department on Aging, Partnership in Aging Program, and at Adelaide Walters Apartments, which provides affordable housing options for seniors. Our work with children includes initiatives at the TEACCH Autism Program and at the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities. Our faculty occupational therapy practice work occurs at University Occupational Therapy.

The map below displays these community engagement initiatives with more information about our division’s work.
