Information for Fieldwork Supervisors
In occupational therapy we all benefit from a culture of giving back to the profession through student supervision. Yet, supervision and teaching of a budding occupational therapist can be hard work.
- Faculty at UNC-CH truly appreciate your gift of time and knowledge to our students, and we hope that you also receive benefits from the experience of working with our students. Please let us know how we can best support you, and provide the resources you need to make fieldwork supervision a growing experience for everyone.
- Our curriculum in occupational therapy includes developmentally sequenced fieldwork experiences throughout the two year course of study. These fieldwork experiences are part of the curriculum beginning with observational fieldwork the first month the students are on campus. The first fieldwork II experience occurs in the fall of the second year, giving students in-depth occupational therapy experiences to draw upon in the final semester of coursework. The second fieldwork II is in the summer after the second year of the program.
- Over the course of the academic program, students are exposed to all curriculum themes in fieldwork experiences.
