The Pender County Occupational Therapy Department has worked diligently to come up with a creative and productive way to service our children and assist our parents in this challenging time. Each week we have been sending home OT skill sets. We have all taken turns making a video for whatever skill set we decided to focus on for the week. Then, as a team, we all downloaded various activities and learning materials into a shared folder. Every week we would take the activities or learning materials that best met each child’s IEP goals and sent them via google classroom or Seesaw (those were the two learning platforms that Pender County adopted to send out materials). As with others, we had to quickly learn programs that we had limited experience with. With the technology brain of our media specialist, Brittany Denning, and our OT brains, we came together as a team and put together skills sets that we have shared with our families and other counties as well. Counties like New Hanover and Charlotte-Mecklenburg, in turn, shared information with us that we also added into our folders demonstrating….we truly are ALL in this TOGETHER!!
