During the Related Service Providers Meetings on Monday, October 29, 2018 we collected donations to help our friends in the areas hit with hurricane Florence.

Some of the schools that were hardest hit by hurricane Florence have only recently been able to return to work, they found some needs and sent out requests for donations during Monday’s meeting.   Toys, school supplies, paper, blankets, air mattresses, socks, sheets, gift cards, and other items were collected and brought back to their communities.

We were so happy to see the turnout and support from across the state!  Thank you to everyone who helped with this!

“On behalf of the kids, parents, teachers, and therapists of Onslow County Schools,  thank you for the overwhelming demonstration of care and prayers through donations received this week.   Recovery from Hurricane Florence will be slow-going, but your gracious generosity replenishes our spirit and gives us strength to endure.” – Onslow County Schools

“…Many students and families continue to struggle to recover from Hurricane Florence and your generous gifts will certainly be beneficial…. We have been humbled with the response we have seen from outside agencies and organizations willing to help. Thank you again and may God bless you.”       -Duplin County Schools

On attending the Lead meeting, Craven County was blessed with many donated items including bedding, air mattresses, socks, underwear and gift cards!  We FILLED the car we came in and brought them back with us to New Bern.

I wanted you to know that we used the gift cards to purchase more air mattresses, pumps and some heaters.

We distributed your generous donations, along with others that we collected locally, to residents of our low income housing area that were displaced due to flooding from Florence.  Some of these residents had water rise 6ft into their homes and lost everything!  They were incredibly grateful to receive items to provide them with some comfort from the cold, hard floors they were laying on. The socks and underwear were snapped up quickly and those without heat were extremely appreciative to receive a heater!  ….. You have made a difference! ”

-New Bern thanks you!

If you would like additional information on how you can help these communities, you can donate to FAST NC or specific school contact information can be provided by Amy McLemore.

Thank you again everyone for a great turn out!
