Life Insurance Gifts

When you first bought a life insurance policy, you probably hoped to ensure the financial stability of your family should something happen to you or your spouse. If your circumstances have changed, you may consider making a gift of your policy to the Foundation for the benefit of the UNC-Chapel Hill Division of Physical Therapy.

Options for life insurance gifts:

Fully paid-up policy--You name the Medical Foundation of North Carolina, Inc. for the benefit of the UNC-Chapel Hill Division of Physical Therapy as owner and beneficiary of a paid-up policy and receive an income tax charitable deduction for the cash surrender value or the cost basis in the policy (whichever is less).

Partially paid-up policy--You name the Medical Foundation of North Carolina, Inc. for the benefit of the UNC-Chapel Hill Division of Physical Therapy as owner and beneficiary of a partially paid-up policy.

New policy--You take out a new life insurance policy with the Medical Foundation of North Carolina, Inc. for the benefit of the UNC-Chapel Hill Division of Physical Therapy as owner and beneficiary.

The Foundation will review the current cash value and the historical investment performance of each policy it receives to determine if it is appropriate to liquidate the policy or continue to keep the insurance in force.
