The Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) awarded Jasmine Wilson, an audiology student, with first place honors and a $5,000 cash grant during the 2017 ADA Student Business Plan Competition, sponsored by Fuel Medical, held Tuesday, September 26 in Uncasville, Connecticut.

The ADA Business Plan Competition was created to provide audiology students with practical hands-on business experience, and the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and creativity. Early-round activities included development of a written executive summary and business plan, which was judged on creativity, feasibility, completeness, cohesiveness, professionalism, and polish.

In the five years, the ADA conference has offered a Student Business Plan competition, UNC students have entered this competition twice. Both year, UNC audiology students took first place.  For the competition, students develop a business plan as part of a course in business practices in audiology, taught by Stephanie Sjoblad, AuD.
