Doctoral Training Grant Funding

The division has an excellent record of obtaining doctoral level leadership grants from the U.S. Department of Education and has had continuous funding since the inception of the program in 2002. Funds typically pay for a student stipend, health insurance, in-state tuition, and travel. Out-of-state tuition is typically covered by the department and Graduate School. We currently have two doctoral training grants, but both have already accepted students.

Graduate School One-Year Merit Fellowships

The Graduate School each year provides merit-based, one-year fellowships for doctoral students. All students who apply for admission are eligible and each department nominates their top candidates. The division will contact you if you are nominated for such an award. The awards cover an $18,500 stipend, in-state and out-of-state tuition, and health insurance. The Graduate School will notify you if you are awarded one of the fellowships.

Graduate School Five-Year Fellowships

The Graduate School each year provides for a small number of five-year fellowships for doctoral students. All students who apply for admission are eligible and each department nominates their top candidates. The division will contact you if you are  nominated for such an award. The awards cover $24,000 in stipend, in-state and out-of-state tuition, and health insurance. The Graduate School will notify you if you are awarded one of the fellowships.
