Students who have questions about their ability to satisfy the Division’s or Program’s requirements for professional conduct should meet with the Division or Program Director to discuss their concerns.
All divisions and programs in the Department of Allied Health Sciences abide by the UNC-CH policy on student grievances.
Enrollment in DAHS Courses During an Appeal Process
During a grade appeal process, the student’s division or program will determine whether or not the student may enroll in further DAHS classes based on all of the facts and circumstances. Factors that could be considered include prerequisite knowledge for the course(s) in which the student wishes to enroll and the student’s overall performance in the program. This decision may be made in consultation with the Graduate School, the Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office, Accessibility Resources and Service, or other University offices depending on the grounds for the appeal.
The University is committed to providing a safe, diverse, and equitable environment to all members of the Carolina community. This policy addresses acts that are contrary to these values. These acts include discrimination, harassment, sexual assault or sexual violence, interpersonal (relationship) violence, sexual exploitation, stalking, and retaliation. Key points include (1) the Policy and the types of conduct the Policy prohibits, (2) how to report the incident and get help, and (3) what happens after a report is made.
Title IX prohibits sex discrimination and sexual harassment. Sexual assault and sexual violence are forms of sexual or gender-based harassment that are prohibited by Title IX. VAWA also requires Universities to address sexual violence, interpersonal violence, and stalking.
Resources for Students
The University Ombuds Office is a safe place where all Carolina staff, faculty, students and administrators are welcome to come and talk in confidence about any campus issue, problem, or dispute. This office supplements, but does not replace, the University’s formal channels, such as the grievance policy.
Counseling and Psychological Services provides therapy, psychiatry, referral and academic intervention services for UNC Chapel Hill students and post-doctoral fellows.
The American Indian Center facilitates the inclusion of the American Indian peoples into the learning environment of the Carolina community. Offers scholarships for American Indian students, conducts community outreach, and researches the history of American Indian peoples.
The Carolina Women’s center offers educational programming about interpersonal violence and issues of gender equity.
The International Student and Scholar Services office offers counseling services for foreign students and scholars including personal advising and cross-cultural adjustment.
The LGBTQ Center supports a safe inclusive environment for UNC-Chapel Hill students of all sexualities, gender identities, and gender expressions. The Center also provides support when reporting instances of interpersonal violence to medical, legal, or University staff.
The Carolina Latinx Collaborative provides a supportive environment for students, faculty, staff and alumni to discuss and understand important issues that affect the Latinx community. The CLC provides a welcoming space for Latinx students through resources and services that foster and enrich their academic, social and cultural experience.
Through ARS, UNC-Chapel Hill seeks to meet the individual needs of applicants and current students with disabilities and medical conditions by coordinating and implementing appropriate accommodations and providing resources and services as they relate to academics, residences, dining and co and extra-curricular campus activities.
