Our program is currently unlike any other with a mission-driven focus centralized around the recruitment of veteran applicants. We encourage veterans from all areas of the U.S. Armed Forces who have served in a medical capacity to apply to our program. We recognize that your service and experiences would provide a valuable perspective in our program.

Admissions

We give special admissions preference to veterans who served in a medical capacity in the military, in particular, Special Forces and Special Operations Medics. All applicants, regardless of their military affiliation, must meet the admissions requirements outlined on our website.

While we are NOT a bridge program, North Carolina’s higher education systems offer courses on campus, online, or at satellite locations around the state will help you prepare for PA school. Choose from one of the many programs below to find a fit right for you.

UNC Core

With UNC Core, active duty service members, veterans, and National Guard and Reserve members can complete general education college courses from a distance on a flexible schedule.

UNC Digital and Lifelong Learning

You don’t have to be a full-time student or seeking a degree to earn academic credit at UNC. Part-time learners can take classes on campus, online, or by correspondence. Semester-based and self-paced courses are also available. Distance courses are open to full-time students on a limited basis.

Veteran’s Choice Act

Effective July 1, 2016, federal and state law mandates that veterans and qualifying dependents using Chapter 30 or Chapter 33 (Post 9/11) benefits must be granted in-state tuition at public institutions of higher learning if they enroll at the institution within 3 years of the veteran’s End of Active Obligation Service date* and meet other school requirements. *Effective July 1, 2017, dependents of active duty service members who are using Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 benefits) may also qualify for in-state tuition benefit under the Choice Act.

Yellow Ribbon Program

UNC-CH is a participating institution in the Yellow Ribbon Program sponsored by the Veterans Administration. This program is designed to help meet the gap in tuition and fees that exceed the cost of in-state tuition.
