New publication from the Parnell Lab:<\/p>\n

The Parnell lab used mice models to study the effects of prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) on behavior and brain alteration. Through the use of various behavioral tests, they determined that female mice affected by PAE lacked social flexibility and demonstrated autistic-like behavior, while PAE males were more likely to engage in risky behavior.\u00a0 PAE changed the size of certain brain regions, as well as the pituitary gland, which likely contribute to these changes in behavior in addition to response to stress. These results have instigated research into the mechanism of these prenatal effects of alcohol.<\/p>\n
