Medical Alumni Affairs (MAA) exists to foster connection among alumni and a living community of support for the School of Medicine. To that end, MAA is invested in the success of alumni engagement activities of various departments and divisions across the School of Medicine and is available to provide resources and assistance for such opportunities.

Examples of event-related support we can provide includes:

  • Pulling an alumni list, including reconciling/updating data in our database with any lists departments have maintained
  • Event registration forms, including options to collect revenue
  • Event e-invitations, for alumni-focused or exclusive events
  • Event consultation, including sharing our knowledge and suggestions on venues, menus, vendors, etc.
  • SOM branded swag/merchandise, and/or recommendations for local vendors who print high-quality merchandise
  • Lending other event collateral like banners, signs, nametags, etc.
  • Financial sponsorship, depending on available funding and scope of event

We cannot typically:

  • Support events where alumni are not a primary audience of the event
  • Provide full event planning support
  • Cover most or all of the cost of a partner event

Partners are welcome to request any level of support desired. The following will guide our decision-making when receiving requests for supporting alumni engagement initiatives:

  • Is a primary purpose of the event/program to engage alumni of the School of Medicine?
    • Will alumni local to the area be able to participate, or just conference/meeting attendees?
  • What is the potential alumni reach of the event? Is the event/initiative located within a priority alumni market for the School of Medicine?
    • Has the School of Medicine held an alumni-related event in the recent past in the area?
  • Does the event/initiative conflict with existing MAA programs or initiatives?
