Our lab is proud to share that a research project led by Dr. Lauren McKibben was recently published in the Journal of Pain. The manuscript, titled “Peritraumatic C-reactive protein levels predict pain outcomes following traumatic stress exposure in a sex-dependent manner,” includes contributions from Miranda Layne, Liz Albertorio-Saez, Ying Zhao, and Erica Branham of the Linnstaedt Lab. This work is part of a long-standing collaboration with Dr. Samuel McLean and many outstanding colleagues from the AURORA study.
This study shows that early inflammatory responses following trauma, measured by C-reactive protein (CRP), can help predict who is more likely to develop chronic pain, with important differences observed between women and men.
Congratulations to all involved!
