DESCRIPTION:Transgender Awareness Week takes place each year between Nov. 13–19\, when transgender people and their allies share stories and advance advocacy around the issues of prejudice\, discrimination and violence that affect the transgender community.  This week of celebration leads up to Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) on Nov. 20\, a world-wide observance commemorating the transgender people lost to violence. DESCRIPTION:(This event was originally scheduled for January 16 but was postponed due to concerns about inclement weather creating power outages and internet interruption) \nKeynote speaker: Elmira Mangum\, PhD – the first woman to permanently hold the position of President of Florida A&M University in its 128-year history. She will be joined at this event by several other prominent community leaders as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King. Tickets $30 (all proceeds fund the MLK/Edith Wiggins HS Senior scholarships).
