Each year, the UNC Department of Anesthesiology provides clinical services for over 45,000 patients. In addition to outstanding clinical care in pain management, and adult and pediatric critical care medicine, the department is a national leader in anesthesiology research. UNC also has an excellent track record in the recruitment and retention of individuals for industry-sponsored clinical trials. UNC anesthesiologist Randall Coomb’s team was the first out of eight sites nationwide in number of patients recruited (3M Study). The 3M Company also sponsors the ongoing 3M Antimicrobial Dressing Study.
