Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology<\/h3>\n

Dr. Creighton joined UNC Anesthesiology as a Clinical Assistant Professor in 2021. At UNC Dr. Creighton dedicates most of his time to caring for ambulatory surgery and obstetric patients at UNC REX Healthcare\u2019s new hospital in Holly Springs. He also works part-time at UNC\u2019s Main Hospital and Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) in Chapel Hill, where he enjoys both caring for patients and teaching UNC\u2019s residents and fellows.<\/p>\n

Dr. Creighton\u2019s clinical interests and expertise are in the areas of ambulatory anesthesia, perioperative pain management, and especially regional anesthesia. Regional anesthesia consists of performing nerve blocks, spinal anesthetics, and\/or epidurals to prevent and treat surgical and obstetric pain. He is first author on an invited expert review on updated evidence for perioperative multimodal pain management published in 2019, and he has served as a peer reviewer for articles on the topics of regional anesthesia and acute pain management for a medical journal.<\/p>\n

Dr. Creighton is originally from Vancouver, Canada. He first moved to the US in 2004 to attend Stanford University, where he earned his undergraduate and master\u2019s degrees and competed for the nationally ranked men\u2019s rowing team. He completed his medical degree at Columbia University, then went on the complete residency training in anesthesiology at Stanford University, and fellowship training in regional anesthesiology and acute pain medicine at Duke University. Prior to his appointment at UNC, he worked for two years in Boston as a staff anesthesiologist at Brigham and Women\u2019s Hospital and nominated clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School where he was a member of the Division of Regional and Orthopedic Anesthesia.<\/p>\n
