The goals of the CME activity will be accomplished with\u00a0lectures, forums, and pro\/con debates that will assess participant feedback in real time, using an audience participation system. The ultimate goal is to provide participants with\u00a0tools and information that will improve the quality and safety of the care they provide to the pediatric patient in the perioperative setting.<\/p>\n<h3>Learning Objectives for Participants<\/h3>\n<p>The information presented at this educational activity should improve your ability to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Explain best practices for improvement of infection control in the operating suite<\/li>\n<li>Discuss the anesthetic management of hypoplastic left heart syndrome in the pediatric population<\/li>\n<li>Explain the current evidence for use of sugammadex in pediatric patients<\/li>\n<li>Identify and manage the pediatric patient with a solid abdominal mass<\/li>\n<li>Discuss the anesthetic management of a tracheal mass resection in the pediatric patient<\/li>\n<li>Comprehend the challenges and pitfalls of delivering anesthesia outside of the operating room<\/li>\n<li>Discuss the physiology and management of hereditary angioedema<\/li>\n<li>Identify risk factors for and discuss the prevalence of substance abuse among anesthesia providers<\/li>\n<li>Discuss management of the known pediatric difficult airway using advanced airway techniques<\/li>\n<li>Weigh the potential pros and cons of midazolam premedication in the pediatric population<\/li>\n<li>Discuss ultrasound based approaches to central and peripheral venous access in<\/li>\n<li>Discuss the complex anesthetic management of conjoined twins<\/li>\n<li>Explain current and future opportunities for virtual reality in the perioperative period<\/li>\n<li>Effectively manage workplace dynamics within the anesthesia care team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Target Audience<\/h3>\n<p>Anesthesiologists, CRNAs, AAs, Pediatric Nurses, Residents, and Fellows in Anesthesiology, Student Nurse Anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals who care for pediatric patients in the perioperative period.<\/p>\n<h3>Accreditation Statement<\/h3>\n<p>The School of Medicine of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.<\/p>\n<h3>Physician Credit<\/h3>\n<p>The Wake Forest School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits\u2122.
