They receive an immersive training in planning and performing regional anesthesia at both tertiary and ambulatory care settings. The time is split evenly between an attending role and a fellow role.<\/p>\n<p>Our regional service supports multiple ERAS pathways at UNC and in addition to a traditional regional anesthesia experience of upper and lower limb blocks in orthopedics, we also provide innovative care to patients undergoing cardiac, thoracic, vascular and abdominal surgeries. We also have an expansive inpatient catheter service supported by the acute pain service. We have over 20 years of experience with ambulatory outpatient peripheral nerve catheters.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Regional Resident\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/anesthesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/470\/2022\/01\/regional_fellows_22.jpg\" alt=\"Regional Resident\" width=\"400\" height=\"330\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We have ongoing research collaborations with colleagues in multiple surgical specialties with opportunities for fellow involvement.<\/p>\n<p>Our busy block team is supported by an experienced block nurse to expedite patient care and support our fellows.
