You may also have an epidural to help control their pain for certain procedures.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-inner\">Tubes and Catheters<br \/>\u2022 The nasogastric tube and foley catheter should be removed on postoperative day one unless specified by the surgical team.<\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-inner\">Activity<br \/>\u2022 You should be out of bed and walking by postoperative day 1.<br \/><span>\u2022 Daily ambulation goals will be set by the medical team and their completion encouraged by nursing staff.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-inner\" \/> <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-group\">\n<div class=\"accordion-heading\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle\" href=\"#collapseFIVE\">Colorectal Educational Materials<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-body collapse\" id=\"collapseFIVE\">\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/anesthesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/470\/2017\/10\/gi-bowel-prep-instructions.pdf\" class=\"internal-link\" target=\"_self\">Bowel Prep Instructions<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/anesthesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/470\/2017\/10\/eras-colorectal-surgery-patient-education.pdf\" class=\"internal-link\" target=\"_self\">ERAS-Colorectal Patient Education<\/a><\/li>\n<li>See <a title=\"\" href=\"\/enhancedrecovery\/For-Patients\/printable-educational-materials\" class=\"internal-link\" target=\"_self\">Patient Education Series <\/a>for General ERAS Education!<\/li>\n<li><em>If you are having GI surgery at UNC, your nurses likely gave you the bottle of Gatorade you will be drinking on the morning of your surgery. This is different from other clinics, which instruct their patients to buy the Gatorade.
