These medications target treat pain in a variety of ways. When the pills are taken together, they are known to provide more effective pain control.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-group\">\n<div class=\"accordion-heading\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle\" href=\"#collapseThree\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion2\"> During Surgery<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-body collapse\" id=\"collapseThree\">\n<div class=\"accordion-inner\"><span>You will receive a single dose of antibiotics to prevent an infection before the procedure.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\" \">You will receive anesthesia care according to best practice recommendations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Individualized blood pressure management<\/li>\n<li>Prevention of blood clots<\/li>\n<li>Careful IV fluid administration<\/li>\n<li>Sedation and pain medication administration<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-inner\"><span>Tailored Anesthesia Care<\/span><br \/>\u2022 <span>Evidence-based, best practice recommendations will be used throughout the surgery to ensure individualized blood pressure management, prevention of blood clots, careful IV fluid administration, and medication administration.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-group\">\n<div class=\"accordion-heading\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle\" href=\"#collapseFour\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion2\"> After Surgery<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-body collapse\" id=\"collapseFour\">\n<div class=\"accordion-inner\"><span>Postoperative Pain Management<\/span><br \/>\u2022 <span>Pain will be approached using a multi-modal approach including oral medication. <\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-inner\">Patient Activity<br \/>\u2022 You should be out of bed and walking by postoperative day 1 (earlier if your surgery was the first surgery of the day).<br \/><span>\u2022 Daily ambulation goals will be set by the medical team and their completion encouraged by nursing staff.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-group\">\n<div class=\"accordion-heading\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle\" href=\"#collapseFIVE\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion2\">Educational Materials<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-body collapse\" id=\"collapseFIVE\">\n<ul>\n<li>See <a title=\"\" href=\"\/enhancedrecovery\/For-Patients\/printable-educational-materials\" class=\"internal-link\" target=\"_self\">Patient Education Series <\/a>for General ERAS Education!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <\/p>\n<div class=\"accordion-inner\"\/> <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Team Renal Transplant Team Kidney Center Website UNC Kidney Center Website Before Surgery Health Assessment\u2022 Includes baseline blood pressure and ideal body weight assessments.
