From March 27<sup>th<\/sup> to 31<sup>st<\/sup>, the department celebrated its anesthesia technologists and technicians, all of whom make vital contributions to support the delivery of quality, patient-centered anesthesia care across the UNC Health system.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-17359 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/anesthesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/470\/2023\/03\/IMG_1676-scaled-e1681230674396-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/anesthesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/470\/2023\/03\/IMG_1676-scaled-e1681230674396-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/anesthesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/470\/2023\/03\/IMG_1676-scaled-e1681230674396-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/anesthesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/470\/2023\/03\/IMG_1676-scaled-e1681230674396.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During National Anesthesia Tech Week, UNC Anesthesiology leadership recognized the critical contributions its anesthesia techs make to the work of the department and sponsored a Happy Anesthesia Week lunch.<\/p>\n<p>UNC Associate Professor of Anesthesiology <strong>Samuel Blacker, MD, FASA<\/strong>, is Medical Director of Anesthesia Support Services at UNC Medical Center. Dr. Blacker noted:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-17343 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/anesthesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/470\/2023\/03\/Anesthesia-Techs-March-23-In-the-OR-300x242.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"242\" \/>\u201cOur patients are direct beneficiaries of all the hard work and dedication of our anesthesia techs. Our team is outstanding, and I am energized by their dedication and enthusiasm. The team has yet to face a problem they cannot solve!<\/p>\n<p>There are countless examples of the value our techs bring to the OR. I know everyone has personally experienced how thankful were to have a tech present in the OR. UNC Anesthesiology joins anesthesia care departments nationwide that pause this week to say \u2018thank you!\u2019 to all anesthesia techs for making contributions that are critical in peri-operative patient care delivery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This large, hardworking group enjoyed a week honoring its important role in patient-centered anesthesia care, and multiple anesthesia techs shared appreciative feedback.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brooke Horner<\/strong>: &#8220;It was a fun exciting week, never felt that much love before during AT week!!! Thank you all for the fun surprises each day!&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Treva Roger-Romero<\/strong>: &#8220;I felt very appreciated.&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Ana Jaimes-Ayala<\/strong> (AT Supervisor): &#8220;This has been the best anesthesia tech week celebration that we have had. Every day of the week was special.
