Dr.\u00a0<span class=\"mark0neix06bf\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Painter<\/span> returned to UNC in January 2023 after working early career (2011-2017) as an Assistant Professor in the department&#8217;s General Anesthesiology Division. From 10+ years in multiple healthcare systems (UNC, New York-Presbyterian\/Weill Cornell Medical Center, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health), he brings extensive clinical and managerial experience to leading UNC&#8217;s Ambulatory Anesthesiology services.\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17086 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/anesthesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/470\/2023\/01\/PainterNateWebsite-e1701801547102.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/anesthesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/470\/2023\/01\/PainterNateWebsite-e1701801547102.png 283w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/anesthesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/470\/2023\/01\/PainterNateWebsite-e1701801547102-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Painter replaces Dr. Ty Bullard, who has served as UNC Ambulatory Division Chief for seven+ years (2017-2023). Dr. Bullard developed a foundation for practice of regional catheter-based postoperative analgesia safety and utility at UNC&#8217;s Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). As ambulatory anesthesia practice continues to evolve, the department is pleased to have Dr. Painter grow the strong record of safety and efficiency at UNC&#8217;s ASC built by Dr. Bullard.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Painter noted: &#8220;I am committed to the tradition of providing safe patient care for our patients undergoing ambulatory surgery at the ASC. With extensive background and skills gained from my familiarity with UNC, as well as two other ambulatory centers across the country, I hope to cultivate a culture of excellence and elevate the
