On October 1st, 2025, incoming Faculty Recruiting Committee Chair <strong>Professor of Anesthesiology and Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology<\/strong> <strong>Dr. Kathleen Smith<\/strong>\u00a0will take over this role from outgoing Chair <strong>Professor of Anesthesiology Dr. Bryant Murphy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Drs. Murphy and Smith are both proven leaders within the department and institution. Dr. Smith serves as UNC Anesthesiology&#8217;s OB Anesthesia Division Chief, UNC Hospitals&#8217; PSQI Chair for UNCH Adult Sedation Committee, and North Carolina&#8217;s State Representative for the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology. Dr. Murphy is UNC Anesthesiology&#8217;s Division Chief of Community Practice, UNC School of Medicine\u2019s Senior Associate Dean for Leadership Development, and served as former President of the
