Dr. Lindsay Wilson, MD, MPH, FACP

Associate Professor of Geriatric Medicine

AOE President 2020-2022

Lindsay Wilson, MD, MPH

Dr. Wilson, a North Carolina native at UNC since medical school, says, “it has been impossible to leave this wonderful place!”  Dr. Wilson splits her time between seeing older adults as a geriatrician in the Department of Medicine and working with medical students in several different roles: PCC tutor, Transition Course Co-Director, AI Course Director, and Director of the Scholarly Concentration Care of the Older Patient.  While Dr. Wilson enjoys working with her patients, “teaching is definitely [her] passion.” Dr. Wilson was thrilled to be a part of the AOE Leadership as it offered “the amazing opportunity to support our awesome clinician educators and cultivate a positive learning environment for everyone at UNC.” Dr. Wilson planned two years of inspiring programs and informative workshops that both encourage excellence in teaching and reward our efforts to be innovative and inclusive.

Dr. Wilson, a truly tremendous leader, maintained AOE offerings during the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic by shifting content to a virtual platform and, in turn, increasing accessibility to our members. Under her guidance, the AOE has expanded its offerings to include the FLAGship and TARHEEL programs, AOE Engage Podcast and Newsletter, Teaching Bootcamp, AOE Essentials, Project ACCESS, and Book Clubs – all the while maintaining the high quality of our core offerings such as our excellent lectures and workshops, the Frank C Wilson Professionalism Forum, and the Alan W. Cross Evening of Scholarship. Dr. Wilson expanded our membership to include our colleagues throughout the SOM, adding Basic Science, MD, Ph.D., and Allied Health Science Departments and programs.
