Eric Zwemer, MD

Dr. Zwemer completed his undergraduate work at Princeton University, received his MD from Harvard Medical School, and completed his residency and Chief Residency at Boston Children’s Hospital before coming to UNC in 2015. As Associate Program Director, he serves as a class advisor, oversees the handoff curriculum, and teaches residents magic tricks and balloon animals. His medical education interests include developing resident-as-teacher programs, on-the-fly teaching at the bedside, and resident wellness. Dr. Zwemer has been highly involved in the AOE for the past four years, serving on the Leadership Council and as the Programming Committee Chair and the Director of Strategic Initiatives. He states, “The tremendous progress made by the AOE since its beginning has allowed the organization to meet the needs of many more members.  We don’t make this progress alone – we make it together.”
