COVID-19 has changed life as we know it, higher education being no exception. As educators we have been forced to develop new approaches that would never have been considered in “normal times.” In this webinar, Rob Austin, Professor of Information Systems at Ivey Business School, and an affiliated faculty member at Harvard Medical School, will talk about how to design and structure courses to combine the best features of a pre- and post-pandemic learning and improve the class experience for students and instructors.
The webinar will focus on course design and examine issues such as:
- Ways that online delivery improves course experiences, and ways it does not
- What works better—asynchronously versus synchronously, online versus in-person, discussion versus lecture based, and how to blend these into a mix that maximizes engagement and learning in a course
- Experiences that work especially well in a course with online components, such as simulations or virtual breakout groups, and how to use these effectively
- How online discussions differ from in-class discussions, and how the two can be used together to enhance learning
- How blended formats affect assessment and examination processes and opportunities
