Craigan Usher, MD graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed general psychiatry training at the Harvard-Longwood program and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital in Boston.
Since 2010 he has been the Program Director for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Training. Dr. Usher is interested in psychiatry as a discipline of science and the humanities and has served as a Book Forum editor for the Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (2018-2022). He has been a mentor for AACAP’s Psychodynamic Faculty Training Mentoring and Training Initiative and is invested in psychotherapeutic strategies to help the needs of youth suffering psychological pain and emotional dysregulation. In collaboration with neurology researcher Lynne Shinto, ND, Dr. Usher was the co-principal investigator of the Meals, Mindfulness, and Moving (M3) Forward study involving yoga, exercise, and cooking classes to support young people with psychosis; he is presently Medical Education Director for the Early Assessment and Support Alliance Center for Excellence within the OHSU/PSU School of Public Health.
