Making it Better? Medicine, Diversity, and Practicing in a Rapidly Changing Landscape
Physicians and health care providers have always been about “making it better,” whether that involves bandaging wounds, researching cures for diseases, or bringing compassion and care to anyone – and everyone – in need. But is it possible that sometimes physicians and health care providers make it worse? In this presentation, we’ll look at how a focus on addressing diversity and inclusion – including microaggressions and implicit bias – is changing our social interactions, including those involving patients, family members, community members, and other providers. Whether you’re new to these ideas or already thinking about diversity and inclusion, this presentation will help you consider how to keep making it better, even in this rapidly changing society.
