From Authority to Ally: Making a Difference for Diversity and Inclusion

Faculty, preceptors, mentors, staff members, and peers play important roles in the life of a medical student. But the influence we have in each other’s lives becomes that much more powerful when we act as allies to those with marginalized identities. In this interactive workshop, we’ll address what it means to act as an ally. As our classes become increasingly diverse, medical schools will need allies at every point of a student’s journey – from learning in the classroom and lab to residencies, student groups and interacting with staff. Whatever your role, you can choose to be part of an institutional effort to address bias, increase inclusion, and build community.
