William McDade, MD, PhD, ACGME Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, will present “Diversity in GME” as part of the Office of Inclusive Excellence Diversity Grand Rounds Speaker Series. Dr. McDade will speak on Wednesday, March 18, at 11:00 a.m. in 321 MacNider Hall.

Session Objectives 

1) Present evidence that workforce diversity benefits the elimination of racial/ethnic health disparities

2) Highlight new ACGME program requirements that will facilitate diversity in GME

3) Discuss some of the disconfirming experiences that URM residents have in some GME learning environments that may accelerate burnout and lead to disproportionately lower completion rates for these candidates.
