Judges Needed: Student Research Day 2021

Advertised by the AOE on behalf of the students of the JBG Executive Board: 

The John B. Graham Student Research Society is writing to ask you to save the date for UNC School of Medicine’s 53nd annual Student Research Day, which will take place on Friday, April 16th, 2021. Historically, this has been a symposium-style event highlighting the research achievements of UNC medical students, giving them the opportunity to present their work and discuss it with faculty and fellow students. Due to the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic, the event will be held virtually, with breakout rooms for presenters to showcase their work via live video sessions. Student presentations will cover research projects in the fields of basic science, clinical science, and public health. We are additionally looking for faculty judges to help make the day a success. Judges will provide critical, formative feedback to students in the School of Medicine, which will help them further develop their scientific thinking and presentation skills.

The schedule of the day is as follows:

The day will start at 12:00pm with the Landes Merrimon Lecture. As of February 23, 2020, this year’s speaker is TBD. All are welcome to attend this lecture.

Next, at 2:00pm, student oral presentations will begin, with the student poster session to follow at 3:00pm.

The role of the faculty judges will be to evaluate both the quality of the students’ research and the effectiveness with which the students present their research.
