Lynn Fitzgerald Macksey, MSN, CRNALynn Fitzgerald Macksey, MSN, CRNA is a Nurse Anesthetist with the Department of Anesthesiology at UNC Hospitals. She is a public speaker and an accomplished author of eight books and peer-reviewed journal articles in the field of adult and pediatric anesthesiology. She has been a Nurse since 1979 and earned her MSN from the University of Pittsburgh, becoming a licensed and practicing CRNA since 2006. She worked at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Pittsburgh as a Nurse Anesthetist before moving to North Carolina, and was the clinical coordinator at WakeMed Raleigh Hospital for the Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia before coming to UNC.

Lynn’s newest publication is Surgical Procedures and Anesthetic Implications (Second Edition): The Ultimate Resource for Anesthesia Practice. All of her reference books are sold internationally and are required texts in multiple anesthesia programs throughout the world. Lynn’s first and best-selling book, Nurse Anesthesia Pocket Guide, has been translated into Korean, Polish, and Chinese, and is now on its third edition. It was awarded Book of the Year in 2017 by the American Journal of Nursing. Her second book, Pediatric Anesthesia and Emergency Drug Guide, is a pre-calculated drug dosage guide for neonates and pediatric patients weighing <50 kg and is now in its second edition.

Culminating from her love of learning, education, and travel, Lynn is the president of Education Adventures for CRNAs, a seminar company for advanced practice providers. Her meetings have been scheduled in Costa Rica, Turks & Caicos, Kiawah Island, SC, Banff, Alberta Canada, and Key West, FL.
